Mission Possible: It’s All About Jesus

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel like our spiritual batteries are running low. Just as our phones warn us when they’re about to die, wouldn’t it be amazing if our souls could alert us when we’re running low on grace, peace, or patience? Many of us walk into church feeling spiritually drained, longing for a recharge. But how do we truly live a Jesus-centered, spirit-filled life in a world that demands so much from us?
The Pace of Life and Our Spiritual Connection
Our hurried lifestyles often crush our connection with God. We live in what some call “digital Babylon,” where we check emails before we breathe and scroll through social media before we pray. This relentless pace can leave us feeling disconnected from God, spiritually tired, and easily overwhelmed. The truth is, our pace in life is often too fast for our souls to keep up.
Lingering in God’s Presence
In Exodus 33, we see a beautiful picture of Joshua lingering in the tent of meeting, where the presence of God dwelled. Lingering is not popular in our culture today, but it’s essential for spiritual growth. We need to create margin in our lives to hear from the Lord, to linger in His presence, and to allow His Spirit to recharge us. Revival comes to the unhurried, and we must learn to slow down and rest in God’s presence.
Being Jesus-Centered
At the heart of our spiritual journey is the call to be Jesus-centered. Colossians 1:15-20 reminds us that Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the creator and sustainer of all things. When Jesus is not the center, something else takes His place, and everything else becomes distorted. We must fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and allow Him to be the focal point of our lives.
Living Spirit-Filled Lives
Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit, our helper and advocate, to empower us to live the Christian life. The Holy Spirit is not optional; He is essential. We cannot live like Jesus on our own strength. We need the Holy Spirit’s power to represent Jesus in the world. As ambassadors for Christ, we are called to carry His presence and walk in His authority.
Embracing Community and Engaging the World
Our spiritual journey involves reaching up to encounter Jesus, reaching in to embrace community, and reaching out to engage the world. Community is not extra credit; it’s essential. We are formed in relationships, and we cannot be fully formed in Christ if we are at arm’s length with the body of Christ. Together, we can carry His presence into the world and represent Him with power and authority.
Conclusion
Living a Jesus-centered, spirit-filled life requires intentionality. We must slow down, linger in God’s presence, and allow the Holy Spirit to recharge us. By fixing our eyes on Jesus and embracing community, we can engage the world with His love and power. Let’s commit to being a people and a place of His presence, exalting Jesus in all that we do.
